Fixer Upper Alphabet Print

Are you guys with me when I say, I really feel like Joanna Gaines and I could be super good friends in real life?  Seriously!  She is the cutest and just seems like such a genuine, awesome, kick-A kind of girl.  One of my favorite things about her show, Fixer Upper, is all the kid space inspiration.  I'm a sucker for typography, folks, and when I saw these classic alphabet prints, I knew I needed to recreate them for my own family's reading nook.

I live in a small town.  So, framing options are pretty limited.  I haven't been able to find any options that I love and are still fairly affordable.  So, I just clipped them to some framed chicken wire in the meantime.  I also love that my daughter can use them as a guide when writing lower and uppercase letters.  These would be great for some of you home-schooling mamas, too!

These are formatted to print as a large print at 11x17" which will cost you about 60 cents at Staples.

Thanksgiving Advent

As a mom, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays.  I feel like it gives my family an opportunity to recognize our blessings and talk about the many things we are thankful for.  I don't know about you guys, but my kids LOVE countdowns.  It amps up the excitement of fun things ahead!

This 12-day Thanksgiving advent calendar is a great way to get everyone involved in in the season of gratitude!

We sat down as a family and each person wrote down items they are thankful for this year.  Then, we decorated our advent with the tags and embellished it with festive pieces that were lightweight and easy to tape to the paper.  Each morning, we will read a tag from the advent.  To break it up a little bit, I also wrote down titles to a few Thanksgiving books we have to read before bedtime.

This particular design is meant to be printed on an 18x24" engineer print at such locations as Staples or Office Max.  An engineer print of this size costs a mere $1.99 from Staples.

Laundry Room Printable

Laundry is my least favorite chore.  I constantly feel as though I'm swimming through the piles and baskets and lights and darks and white and lost socks... it overwhelms me.  Right when I complete an entire week's worth of laundry, I find the same baskets overflowing just two days later.  If there is one task I never fail to complain about, it's laundry.

A childhood friend of mine, who lost a child, mentioned this quote recently and how thankful she is for the piles of laundry in her life.  Maybe I'm late to the party, but I don't remember hearing this one before.  It really touched me.  I need to live more in the moment and be grateful and satisfied with "the now." Yes, the piles of laundry are inevitable. But, I need to remember the sweet little healthy bodies who are dirtying that laundry, and oh how grateful I am for them!  Thanks, Jess, for the reminder! You are a strong mama!

Playdate Calling Cards

As I mentioned a few posts ago, my little just started at a new school this year.
Between packing, moving, and renovating our house, there hasn't been much time leftover to make new friends. A week before the "first day" festivities, I sent home playdate calling cards.

I also arranged to meet some fellow neighborhood kids and their mamas at a nearby park for pizza, cookies, juice boxes, and fun.  Not only did it give little J an opportunity to meet a few students who would be in his class, but it gave me a chance to meet their moms, socialize, and form some neighborhood acquaintances, too.

These would be great to send home with students in your child's class, too.
Little J is always saying he wants "so-and-so" to come over and play, but I don't know their parents or their contact information.  So, this is a great way to break the ice and organize some social opportunities for your little.

You never know.  The kiddos might not be the only ones to make new friends.

Celebration!

(right click image and save for printing)

There's something a little sad about summer ending.
But, so much excitement comes along with bidding farewell to flip flops and sprinklers.
New teachers, new friends, new school supplies (always my favorite part), and so much more!
This month, we will be celebrating by making some of our favorite prints from the shop available to all our lovely Sissyprint readers for freebs.  I sent my little man off for the big first day of school today.

I hope he remembers this one...

Tuesday

What I want my children to remember...

We have a new print available in the shop.  But, because I love all of you, I'm giving you the low-resolution
version as a freebie.  Don't you love free stuff?  I know I do.

My son is starting at a new school this fall.
I hope he remembers these words as he leaves home every day.
I hope he remembers how much I love him and how cool I think he is.
Because he is.  He's super cool.
And, hopefully his new classmates will see that too.

Happy August, friends.

Wednesday

Is bedtime a battle at your house?  It sure is at mine.
It's the end of the day.
The kids are tired, I'm tired.

I know I've made a bajillion reward charts on Sissyprint, but they help make the world go `round at my house.  It encourages the kids to do their best and helps me out in the long run.  Plus, they love getting to put up a sticker when they've done a good job.

I'm kicking off the Super Sleepers club at mi casa this week.  Fingers crossed.
Hopefully the Super Sleepers chart will help make your sleepy time a cinch, too.
Wanna give it a whirlsy with me?

Let me know how it goes!

The New Theme is Here!

My camera is M.I.A.  The good old cell phone had to be utilized in the meantime.

The new year is just a month away, which means the youth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be receiving a new theme!  We received so much support last year (thank you!) for our Arise print, we decided to make a print for 2013 as well.

There are two versions, distressed or clean.  Sissyprint watermarks will not be visible once purchased.
For $10, you can print this goodie for each young woman in your program.  Especially for those of you who have a TON of girls, this would make a great, inexpensive Christmas gift.

But, the best part?
Just leave your email in the comments to enter!
This giveaway will end at midnight on Tuesday, December 4th.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 5th.

Monday

Quotable Monday - Emily is back.

I feel like life has been trying my patience lately.

I have a five year old, darling little boy.  He's such a sweetheart. But, lately the tantrums and whining have been giving me a run for my money.  My amazing husband completed graduate school two years ago. With the tough economy, we continue to make the most of our little apartment while I dream of a backyard to call my own where the kidlets can run wild. I took the past month off from my many duties and obligations to destress.  Nearly a year of infertility and frustration is what helped me find this quote by Marquis de Vauvenargues.

Patience really is the art of hoping.

Hoping that my recently ordered copy of "Love and Logic" will give me some new parenting tools.
Hoping that my husband's hard work and brilliance will be discovered by an employer and our little family will finally be able to move on to the next phase in life.
Hoping for a baby.

Hoping... and fingers crossed really tight.
