Get Excited - Addie is back.

The summer goes by pretty slowly when you don't have internet access in your new home -
and when the closest person you know lives 5 hours away.
But it is the absolute WORST when -
you live in Washington D.C. and your husband lives in Dallas.

Needless to say, I'm thrilled to be back.
And you have reason to be stoked out of your panties,
because we are celebrating the coming birth of
BABY G
with a lawn party at sunset.

With, you know, how about
the best sugar cookie recipe ever.
homemade limeade.
printable templates for your own party.
a tutorial on making probably the cutest fan flowers.

And after tomorrow, you better believe I'm going to share
this goodness and more with you.

Stay Tuned.
The Sissies are Back.

Friday

baby shower / bridal shower bundle

i helped throw a baby shower recently for a dear friend.
it was so much fun designing the small bits and pieces to help make her shower special.

the other {amazing} girl that helped with the shower thought of the adorable idea of doing a waffle bar brunch. it was a huge success!

because this shower was so much fun, i decided that i'd share these printable and now customizable goodies with all of you!

we had a waffle bar sign and food labels for each topping

and of course everyone loves a yummy soda as a party favor

this is the original invite

not only did i include everything for a baby shower, but also for a bridal shower!

hopefully the bride or mama-to-be in your life will enjoy these as much as my sweet friend kaylee did!

Christmas Tree Paper Ornament

Since holiday decor is usually done on a budget in our house, I decided to come up with some ornaments I could make myself and even involve my four year old son with some of the process.
Thus, after some trial and error, we came up with the

I printed mine on textured cream card stock.
But, if you don't have any, computer paper is just fine!

Even if you're not loving the idea of paper ornaments hanging on your tree,
these would look darling as a tag to a gift or on place settings for dinner.

Happy holiday decorating!  Such a special time to build memories, don't ya think?

freebie friday - thanksgiving name cards

Let's be honest about Thanksgiving.

There is nothing better than walking into the dining room and sitting down next to those you love at a beautiful table.  [Okay, the food is probably better.  Especially if you cook like our mother Jonas.]

But how do you feel about spicing up the decor a little with personalized place settings for each guest?  How about a pear dipped in chocolate and rolled in diced almonds?  Or maybe a homemade caramel apple drizzled in white chocolate?

Slice the top and place one of these name cards inside.

Voila!  A free, delicious, easy way to make every guest feel welcomed to a special holiday dinner!

Saturday

party party party!!!

Hey everyone!

I'm going to my first "Thanksgiving" party of the year today and I'm so excited!!!
We are doing a bake off and I've lovingly coaxed my husband into being the baker!

Prizes will be given away for best tasting and most beautiful!
I'm going for both!

So I made a cake plate and decorated it with these tiny flags!

They are perfect for toothpicks and cupcakes!

Obviously our dessert isn't made, but nobody hates almond roca either right!?

Wish us luck! I'm a little competitive!

It's A Thanksgiving Party!

I don't know about you, but one of my very favorite things is to be around my family and friends.
Anytime I have a chance to be with them, I am. And what better excuse to get together then with a party!!

Today's printable is perfect for any Thanksgiving shindig with those you love most!

The best part about these cuties is that you can personalize them with your handwritten message or you can place them in an editing software and customize them that way too!

You can print these 5x7 invites in either white or tan. It just depends on which one you prefer!

as always please allow adequate loading time

Happy party planning!!

I am thankful guessing game

I actually got this idea from Parents magazine.
But, I thought it was such a fun and interactive take on the I-am-thankful-for at dinner.

Have your dinner guests jot down what they're thankful for this year.
Put all the "thankful notes" into a bowl, draw them out, and try to guess who it belongs to.
You could even have a prize for the person who guesses the most correctly.

Get your I Am Thankful Guessing Game here.

Happy dinner hosting!

Halloween bottle wrappers

Kyrsten whipped up these FANTASTIC Halloween bottle wrappers for
Today's Creative Blog.

Wouldn't these be so great for an upcoming Halloween party? You could even hand out bottled water instead of candy to trick or treaters this year!  To get your spooky bottle wrappers, go here.

Happy Birthday banner

If you have a birthday coming up, this Happy Birthday flag banner is a breeze to make.

There are seven pages to this printable.  Use a paper cutter to slice down the center of the page, then use scissor to cut along the inverted line at the bottom of the page.  String the flags along some twine and hang for the birthday festivities.  Colorful and clean, just how we like it.

The sissies are going here this weekend.  Isn't Idaho beautiful? Outdoor movie night, mexican horseshoe tournament, lots of food, and lots of laughs can be expected.
See you next week!

Tuesday

baby shower invitation

I'm one lucky lady when it comes to friends and family. I have so many people in my life that I seriously adore. One such chica is a dear friend and cousin of mine. I was recently able to throw her an adorable baby shower for her darling baby boy!

This shower came complete with a hot dog machine, candy galore, popcorn and carmel corn and lots of fun.
Mindy and I decided it would be fun to create a circus/carnival theme for the shower. We wanted it to incorporate those ideas, but didn't want it to get too tacky.
I think we were pretty successful in making that happen!
Honestly, this invite could be used for any type of party. Neighborhood bash, child's birthday, baby announcement, or even a bridal shower.
Depending on who and what you are using it for can simply be determined by your color choices.
Good luck in planning that next big bash!

Wednesday

bridal shower invitation

There are so many fun themes to choose from for parties these days.
I love this idea.  Introducing an invitation for a vintage housewife themed bridal shower.

The guests will receive aprons for party favors and I picture them eating classic housewife
baked goods such as lemon bunt cake, chocolate eclairs, and other tasty creations.
Perhaps some fingernails painted red, some lips adorned with a rosy hue.

This takes me back to a simpler time when all things were pretty.
