Fixer Upper Alphabet Print

Are you guys with me when I say, I really feel like Joanna Gaines and I could be super good friends in real life?  Seriously!  She is the cutest and just seems like such a genuine, awesome, kick-A kind of girl.  One of my favorite things about her show, Fixer Upper, is all the kid space inspiration.  I'm a sucker for typography, folks, and when I saw these classic alphabet prints, I knew I needed to recreate them for my own family's reading nook.

I live in a small town.  So, framing options are pretty limited.  I haven't been able to find any options that I love and are still fairly affordable.  So, I just clipped them to some framed chicken wire in the meantime.  I also love that my daughter can use them as a guide when writing lower and uppercase letters.  These would be great for some of you home-schooling mamas, too!

These are formatted to print as a large print at 11x17" which will cost you about 60 cents at Staples.

Celebration!

(right click image and save for printing)

There's something a little sad about summer ending.
But, so much excitement comes along with bidding farewell to flip flops and sprinklers.
New teachers, new friends, new school supplies (always my favorite part), and so much more!
This month, we will be celebrating by making some of our favorite prints from the shop available to all our lovely Sissyprint readers for freebs.  I sent my little man off for the big first day of school today.

I hope he remembers this one...

Tuesday

What I want my children to remember...

We have a new print available in the shop.  But, because I love all of you, I'm giving you the low-resolution
version as a freebie.  Don't you love free stuff?  I know I do.

My son is starting at a new school this fall.
I hope he remembers these words as he leaves home every day.
I hope he remembers how much I love him and how cool I think he is.
Because he is.  He's super cool.
And, hopefully his new classmates will see that too.

Happy August, friends.

The New Theme is Here!

My camera is M.I.A.  The good old cell phone had to be utilized in the meantime.

The new year is just a month away, which means the youth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will be receiving a new theme!  We received so much support last year (thank you!) for our Arise print, we decided to make a print for 2013 as well.

There are two versions, distressed or clean.  Sissyprint watermarks will not be visible once purchased.
For $10, you can print this goodie for each young woman in your program.  Especially for those of you who have a TON of girls, this would make a great, inexpensive Christmas gift.

But, the best part?
Just leave your email in the comments to enter!
This giveaway will end at midnight on Tuesday, December 4th.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 5th.

Get Excited - Addie is back.

The summer goes by pretty slowly when you don't have internet access in your new home -
and when the closest person you know lives 5 hours away.
But it is the absolute WORST when -
you live in Washington D.C. and your husband lives in Dallas.

Needless to say, I'm thrilled to be back.
And you have reason to be stoked out of your panties,
because we are celebrating the coming birth of
BABY G
with a lawn party at sunset.

With, you know, how about
the best sugar cookie recipe ever.
homemade limeade.
printable templates for your own party.
a tutorial on making probably the cutest fan flowers.

And after tomorrow, you better believe I'm going to share
this goodness and more with you.

Stay Tuned.
The Sissies are Back.

Quotable Monday - Emily is back.

I feel like life has been trying my patience lately.

I have a five year old, darling little boy.  He's such a sweetheart. But, lately the tantrums and whining have been giving me a run for my money.  My amazing husband completed graduate school two years ago. With the tough economy, we continue to make the most of our little apartment while I dream of a backyard to call my own where the kidlets can run wild. I took the past month off from my many duties and obligations to destress.  Nearly a year of infertility and frustration is what helped me find this quote by Marquis de Vauvenargues.

Patience really is the art of hoping.

Hoping that my recently ordered copy of "Love and Logic" will give me some new parenting tools.
Hoping that my husband's hard work and brilliance will be discovered by an employer and our little family will finally be able to move on to the next phase in life.
Hoping for a baby.

Hoping... and fingers crossed really tight.

Two of my sissies are graduating from college next weekend.
My older sissy, who has journeyed the road as a widow and single mother of two, has had to work especially hard.
I'm so proud of her.  Angie-Shmangie, this one's for you.

Thursday

wild thing print

every time i hear this song i think of those singing/dancing gorillas that you find lining the shelves of every wal-mart in america during valentines day.
i guess i should have used a money graphic then?

nah!! i thought i'd be cliche in a different way and use a motorcycle!

motorcycles = wild don't they? :)

i love a good motorcycle ride. they always remind me of my sweet grandpa and the rides he would take me on as a kid.

but since this is for valentines day, i dedicate it to my wild thing {my sweetie} sam instead!

Tuesday

traveling happy!

my husband and i LOVE our westy {the camper van shown on the poster}

we love to take it on exotic road trips anywhere we can. exotic meaning anywhere in the western united states.... i don't think it could make it too much further!

in fact we love it so much that we are planning a spring break road trip to one of my favorite places of. all. time! OREGON!!!

im soo excited. i hope this print gets you excited to enjoy an adventure too.

Monday

Quotable Monday- Gobble

Awhile back my husband and I and a few of our friends had an ongoing battle of trashing each other's houses. And by trashing I mean gathering a few 'fancy' decorations from our local thrift store and redecorating each other's places.

It was definitely a fun rivalry we had going on for those few months.
While 'redecorating' one of our friend's houses, we picked up a little sign that said, "Gobble till you Wobble." It was ugly, but I loved it!

Since theirs was the first home trashed, they made sure that the sign was passed between us as we each had our own turn of decorating torture.

Although the sign was ugly, the saying rocks! So I decided to take that saying and make something that each of us can use in our homes, but with a bit more style than the original.

As usual, I'm having a hard time with our downloading tool. I need some serious tech support here! So, yet again you will have to download it via google docs!

xoxo, kyrsten

Friday

Halloween Children's Rhyme

My mother sang this song to us when we were children.
Now, during the month of October, my own children sing this rhyme.
We scream the boo part, or sometimes we sing the words in a really spooky whisper.
They love it.

Although this particular item was designed to fit an 8x10 frame in my home,
this would be great to go along with Halloween party invitations or favors!

freebie friday - funky photos

Today I'm taking a slightly different route with freebie Friday. Instead of a 'graphic' I'm giving you some funky photos to enjoy.

I am no photographer, but every now and then I pull out my camera {well my husband says I never put it down.} At any rate, I wanted to spruce up my tiny little apartment so I searched my photo archives and found a few pictures that I decided to FUNKIFY!!!

{Each of these awesome photos can be printed as an 8x10 or smaller}

{Arches National Park}

{Cancun, Mexico}

{D.C.}

{New York City}

I hope you can have some fun with these regardless of what you decide to do with them. Put them in a frame, make a card, add a quote, or make a collage. The creativity rests on you. Enjoy!

xoxo kyrsten
